Awards

  • I received the Prix de Psychologie (Quinzième période triennale) for the best doctoral dissertation in Psychological sciences between 2004 and 2006, awarded by the Académie Royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-arts de Belgique, to: Duyck, W. (2004). Lexical and semantic organization in bilinguals.
  • I was one of the co-founders of the science blog http://www.mensenkennis.be, by the Ghent Alumni Psychology association. It received a science communication award (‘Jaarprijs Wetenschapscommunicatie’) by the Flemish Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2014. The blog attracts 30.000 new readers per year.
  • 2014 Science prize from the German Association for Dyslexia and Dyscalculia for the study: Hachmann, W., Bogaerts, L., Szmalec, A., Woumans, E., Duyck, W., & Job, R. (2014). Short-term memory for order but not for item infomation is impaired in developmental dyslexia. Annals of Dyslexia, 64, 121-136.
  • Best Masters Thesis Award 2001, awarded by the Belgian Association for Psychological Sciences (BAPS) to: Duyck, W. (2000). Semantische mediatie bij vertaling door tweetaligen: een studie aan de hand van het grootte-effect bij getalsbenoeming.
